Compression testing is one example. It can help create a clearer picture of engine condition. It does not tell the whole story on its own, but it is a useful piece of evidence alongside cold-start behavior, idle quality, visible leaks, service records, and road-test impressions when available.
Engine photos can also show the scope of the work being performed. Some vehicles need only inspection and minor servicing. Underbody photos are especially important for U.S. buyers. Rust, leaks, exhaust condition, floor panels, suspension mounting points, and the overall condition of the underside can all affect the buying decision. Buyers should be cautious of sellers who avoid providing underbody photos.
Mechanical proof does not mean pretending an older vehicle is perfect. It means presenting the condition honestly, explaining the plan clearly, and documenting the work properly.
