A Closer Look at the Full-Paint Restoration Process at Rasheenkan
Every Nissan Rasheen we build begins with a single goal: giving this Japanese modern classic the craftsmanship it needs to look stunning and drive reliably for decades to come.
This particular Rasheen is being restored for a customer from Okayama Prefecture, Japan.The vehicle has been completely stripped down, and each exterior panel is meticulously prepped and painted off the car.
This is far from a quick exterior respray. It is an intensive, panel-off restoration designed to create a clean, flawless, and lasting finish.
The Areas You Can't See Matter Just as Much
Once a vehicle is fully assembled, most people only notice the outer surfaces of the hood, doors, and rear tailgate.
However, the true mark of a high-end restoration lives in the areas that normally remain hidden.
At Rasheenkan, we remove every panel to refinish the edges, inner structures, and mounting points with the same care as the exterior skin. This requires significantly more labor and prep work, but it delivers a level of quality that is simply impossible when taping off an assembled car.
The outer skin of the hood is block-sanded and cleared for a deep, mirror-flat appearance.
The underside receives identical prep and paint. Details like this matter — because the engine bay should look just as pristine as the exterior the moment you pop the hood.
Restoring the Rear Tailgate
The split rear tailgate is one of the Nissan Rasheen’s most distinctive design features. Because it integrates glass, hardware, inner mechanisms, and intricate seam edges, properly refinishing it takes patience and precision.
The exterior sheet metal is laid down flawlessly in the customer’s chosen body color.
The inner frame, seals, and surrounding channels have also been fully coated. After reassembly, much of this work will be hidden—but it is what ensures total corrosion protection and a cohesive, factory-plus build.
Doors Prepped and Sprayed Off-Body
Spraying the doors off the chassis lets us cover tight recesses and jambs that are impossible to properly coat during an ordinary respray.
Each door is hung, prepared, and painted individually to maintain uniform depth, flake alignment, and gloss across the entire vehicle.
This ensures the restored body looks factory-fresh not only from ten feet away, but every time you open a door and see clean jambs.
The reflections across the cured panel show off the optical clarity and deep gloss of the new finish.
Even the inner door shell receives the same meticulous attention. This level of craft is exactly what separates a true restoration from a cut-rate color change.
Built Deliberately, Finished to Last
Restoring a classic 1990s Nissan Rasheen demands time and precision. Disassembly, bodywork, surface preparation, spray booth time, curing, and reassembly must all be executed without shortcuts.
We refuse to rush this process.
