Even a clean, low-mileage Nissan Rasheen can’t hide 25-year-old dampers. Out on the road, tired factory shocks show up immediately as floaty steering, excessive body roll, and a chassis that never quite settles over bumps.
On this build, we pulled all four corners to refresh the suspension with brand-new units.
Why Old Shocks Need Careful Inspection
Blown seals, perished rubber bushings, and clunks over rough pavement are obvious giveaways, but damping loss usually creeps in slowly. Most drivers simply get used to the wallow until they drive a properly sorted car. A physical teardown is the only real way to gauge what needs saving and what needs binning.

Rebuilding the Struts with Fresh Damping

We dropped both the front and rear strut assemblies so every component could be inspected individually.
Once torn down, all four tired dampers were swapped out for brand-new shocks. The original strut housings were thoroughly degreased and prepped before final assembly. Fresh shocks bring back the firm, controlled rebound needed to keep the Rasheen planted at highway speeds and composed through corners.

Reassembly and Chassis Setup
The refreshed assemblies were bolted back in and torqued down to factory spec. A road test and alignment check confirmed the setup is dialed in—sharp, level through corners, and predictable under braking.
