Some Nissan Rasheen owners experience intermittent hard-starting problems.
The engine may crank normally but hesitate before starting, or it may require several attempts before it finally fires. Because the symptom comes and goes, it is often mistaken for a weak battery, worn spark plugs, or a failing fuel pump.
During a recent inspection at Rasheenkan Japan, we identified the actual cause.
It was not the fuel pump itself.
It was a burned fuel pump connector.
As shown in the photo, the electrical terminal had overheated over time. The resulting resistance reduced the voltage reaching the fuel pump, preventing it from operating consistently. In some cases, the engine would start normally. In others, fuel pressure was too low for immediate starting.
Why This Happens
As vehicles age, electrical terminals can develop:
• Heat damage
• Corrosion
• Increased electrical resistance
• Poor terminal contact
Even a fuel pump in good condition cannot perform properly if it is not receiving full battery voltage.
Our Solution
Rather than replacing expensive parts without proper diagnosis, we carefully inspected the wiring and connector, identified the damaged terminal, and repaired the electrical connection.
This restored proper voltage to the fuel pump and resolved the intermittent starting issue.
